Children of Eden

Finally!!!!

I know it has been a ridiculously long time since my last post but wow have these last weeks been busy.  I won't bore you with the details of my life but I will say that even though it was super crazy I did manage to get two nail arts done just never got the time to sit down and post them.

The first nail art that I have for you was inspired from a book that I recently read.  Children of Eden by Joey Graceffa.  I originally just wanted to see the book, then I started to read it and wouldn't you know I got inspired.  Can I just say that it was good book, better then expected.  Well enough of my rambling, let's get to it.

For this mani I used:

  • Sally Hansen White On
  • Sally Hansen Twisted Pink
  • Sally Hansen Marine Scene
  • Sally Hansen Ivy League
  • Essence Mister Rusty
  • Acrylic Paint
  • Striping brush
  • Liquid latex
  • round rhinestones
To start, my index and pinky have a white base with the pink and blue somewhat overlapping one another to copy the cover of the book.  My middle finger is my take on how he describes Eden.  I wanted to do something more elaborate but my nail was not big enough, they are still weak and brittle so they break with no provocation.  Anyway back to it.  In the center of the maze I put an emerald color rhinestone in, again my take on the city of Eden.

My ring and thumb are interesting.  I was playing with different Ideas I could use to draw a tree.  Well with the size of my nails it was not possible to do on one finger so I came up with this solution.  The canopy of the tree is my ring finger, done with acrylic paint, and my thumb is the base of the tree.  I know my tree leaves a lot to be desired but I can tell you I did seriously try and make it look like a tree trunk.  (I failed all my art classes in school.  lol)

I don't want to say too much about the tree because I don't wan to spoil the book for those that have not read it yet.  But I will say this,  I did not expect it to go the direction it did and if you read the book then you know what I'm talking about.  If you want a quick read then I will suggest this book.

There isn't much else to say so I hope you enjoyed the mani and we will see you with the next one.  As always have a wonderful day!

BOOM!

BOOM!!!!

Good morning everyone.  I realize that there will be two posts today but as I said in the last post, it has been crazy around here and I have not had time to update or post anything so here is the second mani that I did.

To start I just want to say that I got some more nail mail, nail vinyls!!!!  Yay, I have been waiting forever.  I have never used them before, this is the first time.  They were simple enough to use but it did get a little problematic when I went to pull them off and it started taking my nail polish with it.  ( thanks to my wonderful peel off base coat.)  I picked these nail vinyls up from aliexpress.

Well onto the mani with the nail vinyls.

In this mani I used:
  • Sally Hansen White On
  • Sally Hansen Pacific Blue
  • Sally Hansen Blue Boom
  • Starburts/Sunburst nail vinyl
For the base color I used the White, then I sponged on the pacific Blue so that it was not too dark or would swallow up the decal.  Blue Boom was used to color in the nail.  I had this polish around for years but never wanted to use it.  It does not look good on its own (in my opinion) so it had to go with something.  It does however make a nice decal.

I had some issues taking off the vinyl but overall they worked well.

As for the name of this mani, I know it is not original and I will not take the credit as one of the polishes used is Blue Boom.  I just did not know what else to call it as it was done all in blue.

I'm not sure there is much else to say on this mani so I'm going to end it here before I ramble anymore.  I hope you enjoyed it, and as always Have a Great Day!!

Scary Halloween

Trick or Treat!!!

Halloween is coming, and so I thought I would get one more nail art in there before it's too late.  I have this stamping plate that I never knew what to do with it, partly because I never took the film off to find out what the images were.  Well I saw on the born pretty website that it was Halloween based, or at least can be taken that way.  The images are quite scary in my opinion.

Upon seeing the plate on the born pretty website I took out the plate and stamped each image just to see for myself.  What do you think?  Halloween material?

Here is what you'll need:

Anyway on to the tutorial.  As always base coat, then base color.  in this case it's two coats of  essence dream on, followed by Sally Hansen Red Carpet, but I did the dry brush technique with the red to make it look like blood.

Well is this Halloween worthy?  Let me know.

To all those going out for Halloween, or taking a little one out, stay safe and be careful, but above all have FUN.

Well that's all from me for now, as always have a great day!

Breast Cancer Awareness

Breast Cancer Awareness.....

I only realized today that October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.  I have known people who have fought and won their battle with breast cancer, it is to them and everyone else battling the disease that this is for.

I used Sally Hansen in Twisted Pink for the base color.  Originally I was just going to stamp with I Pink I Can from Sally Hansen but when I tried it on my thumb it didn't show up on camera, you could barely see it in person unless you were right on top.

To try and make the stamping better I did the double stamping.  First up is Mundo de Unas white, then directly over top of that is Sally Hansen I Pink I Can.  Finish off with a topcoat.

After I was done the manicure I thought it would look better with a matte base color and a glossy stamp but I guess that is going to have to wait until next time.  I also realized that some of the stamps are upside down.  I think because whenever I go to stamp I always forget that it's not to me that they are supposed to face.  I always think that I am supposed to be the one that the design is the right way for.  That being said I am sorry for any backwards stamping that happened or is going to happen, because I can guarantee that it is going to happen again.

I hope you enjoyed this post and remember to support your dearest charities.  As always have a great day!!!!!

Nail Mail

NAIL MAIL!!!!!

Ahhhh!! so excited, my parcel finally came in, have been waiting for a month for delivery.  Today the mail lady came with my stuff super excited to try it all.

I ordered the UNT peel-off base coat, and it came with a free matte nail polish.

It came in really weird wrap, I have never seen bubble wrap like this.  I told the kids that I got a parcel and they got super excited because they always steal the bubble wrap.  Who doesn't love popping the bubble wrap?  They were so disappointed when I showed them the wrap it was in.  Totally isn't bubble wrap by the way.

Weird right??

Anyway I couldn't wait and jumped right in with swatches.  First of all I'm not sure how the peel-off basecoat is going to peel given all the damage to my nails but I tried anyway.  I had to use two coats of base just to cover the nail because of dents and scratches.  I did two coats of the blue which has no name just a number.  I did Sally Hansen Ice Queen for the accent nail.

I bought the Ice Queen when I ordered the base coat, but never tried it, I generally hate glitter becuase of the difficulty of taking it off.  I will keep you guys posted as I take off the polish.  Cross your fingers and hope it works for me the same way I've seen online.

That is the final product of tonight's swatches.  There is no topcoat on the blue just to show how well it covered.  It was very easy to apply as well.  There is top coat on the glitter just to smooth out the surface.

Well that's all for tonight, I have done wayyyy to much walking today so I'm off to relax as always Have a great day and happy painting.

ThanksGiving

Thanksgiving!!!!!

I'll make this quick being its the thanksgiving weekend.  I just wanted to make some nail art inspired from the holiday season.  Again all stamping was done with Aliexpress plates.

Yes I colored in a turkey for the thumb.  I know how cool right.  I wanted to have a stamp represent thanksgiving because I felt that the colors just didnt do  it any justice.  For this mani, I used orange, green, and yellow.  They did not do gradient very well but it looks all rigt.  It took almost 5 coats for the gradient to look somewhat opaque.

Well I'm off to enjoy the holiday.  As always have a great day and a Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate it.
